Researching Audiences
Psychographics are categories for audiences based on their attitudes and behaviours. There are 7 different categories: Mainstreamers, Aspirers, Succeders, Resigned, Explorers, Strugglers and Reformers and some are very different from others, for example Resigned people prefer to stick to specific brands whereas Explorers like to try new things.
There are also Socio-Economic groups that relate to people's social class there are 6 different types: A which is upper class, B which is middle class, C1 lower middle class, C2 skilled working class, D working class and E which consists of people who are unemployed or unable to work.
Various demographics are created through a variety of different factors such as age, gender, income among other things, for example if something is designed for young male children, they would try to lower the price as it is unlikely that they have lots of money. But if something is designed for Middle-aged females with high paying jobs then the price would be larger as they would be able to buy more expensive things.
When looking at target audiences people might look at different ethnographics as different cultures may like or dislike the product for certain reasons and then they can adjust it so that it is more widely popular, they might also look at different geo demographics as certain things may be more or less popular in certain areas so they might want to focus on the places that already are fans or try to introduce it to areas where it might be less popular.
